Former Atelier Coppens, Brussels

Following a trip to Carrara in November 2017, Miserendino selected and took home a block of marble that was divided into eight consecutive layers, like sequential slices through metamorphic bread. Using a process that he has been developing for the past four years, Miserendino forced dye through the layers and the stone responded, with intense and moving patterns of colours. The answers given by the stone were then delicately carved according to the artist’s recollections of personal encounters.

Many thanks to @ Atelier Jespers for the Donald Judd chairs
